Building off of design principles and techniques explored in Dami and Falian, Emily Carr alumni embarked on a project with Meta, producing Mescaform Hill: The Missing Five, a mystery story set in rural Nigeria. Over a year, this project further explored comic book language in Virtual Reality, prioritizing animation and spatial abstraction, instead of interactivity, to deliver a narrative experience. Mescaform Hill: The Missing Five was premiered in Tribeca Festival in 2022.
Further explored the interplay of comic book language and VR by integrating cinematic animation. Volumetric panels materialize in space abstracting time and space in novel ways.
Established techniques and pipelines for creating and optimizing content produced in virtual reality.
Defined solid methods for complementing VR comic book experiences with sound design and music.
This project pushed these ideas beyond the sphere of experimentation, and into a production ready environment.
